Scientists from across the globe gather at SRON for new infrared space telescope

From April 2nd to April 4th, over a hundred scientists and engineers from across the globe gather at the department of SRON Netherlands Institute for Space Research at the Groningen Kapteyn Institute to discuss how to secure a budget of 550 million euros from the European Space Agency ESA for the European-Japanese mission SPICA. SPICA would be the most sensitive space telescope in history for mid- and far-infrared radiation. From 2030 onwards, it would unravel how galaxies emerged and evolved into the colorful bunch that is painted on our night sky.
